Aziz Ansari’s Career

In 2001, while he was attending New York University, Aziz Ansari started performing stand up comedy  in local bars and restaurants. Aziz Ansariâ??s stand up comedy career started at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and at weekly shows like Invite Them Up.

His comedic talent didnâ??t go unnoticed and in 2005, was included by the Rolling Stone in their annual Hot List as their choice for the Hot Standup.

After that, Aziz Ansari took his stand up show all over the U.S. with Comedian of Comedy and appeared as a special guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

In 2005, Aziz Ansari began collaborating with fellow comedians to produce short films and in 2006 they produced the critically acclaimed Human Giant, which ran from 2007, on MTV for two seasons. They were offered a third season, but chosed to pass, because of other commitments.

In 2006, the comedian Azizi Ansari won the Jury Award at the 2006 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, in Aspen Colorado.

In 2007, Aziz Ansari appeared as a xenophobic fruit vendor on the HBOâ??s Flight of the Conchords series and in 2008 on The Worse Week, as the morgue employee.

In June 2008, Aziz Ansari was hired for NBCâ??s Parks and Recreation show, which debuted in April 2009.

Aziz Ansariâ??s performance in Park and Recreation, as the government employee Tom Haverford, launched him as a TV star, being named by Entertainment Weekly one of  2009â??s â??Breakout TV Starsâ?.

In 2008 and early 2009, Aziz Ansari toured the U.S. with his own comedy tour, the Glow in the Dark Tour and the material from this tour is part of his first stand up comedy album.

In 2009, he laso starred in films such as: Funny People, Observe and Report or I Love You, Man.

On July 1, 2009 was filmed Aziz Ansariâ??s stand up comedy show Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening, at the Brentwood Theatre. On January 17,  2010, was premiered Aziz Ansariâ??s stand up comedy video Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening and the album was released on CD/DVD on January 19,  being the comedianâ??s first stand up album.

Due to the success with Human Giants, Aziz Ansari was invited by MTV to host the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. The event took place on June 6, 2010 and the show opened with a parody of the film Precious, in which the comedian appeared as Aziz "Precious" Ansari.

In 2010, Aziz Ansari appeared also in Get Him to the Greek, began a new theatre tour titled the Dangerously Delicious Tour and he is currently filming 30 Minutes or Less, directed by Ruben Fleischer, the film being scheduled for release on August 12, 2011.

Aziz Ansari took a different approach in his stand up comedy career and it worked. When other comedian touch general topics like politics or economics, Aziz Ansari finds the humor in his own life and on trending topics, such as Facebook, Craiglist or R Kelly.

â??I like talking about things that are going on in my life, because thatâ??s always going to be different and original,â? he says. â??No one else is gonna be talking about my personal experiences."

Aziz Ansariâ??s comedy style is a perfect mix of cool topics and aspects of his personal life.
